Archie Rose Distilling Co. has unveiled a refreshed whisky portfolio, including a new Australian Original Whisky, alongside a redesigned brand identity and packaging developed with actor and co-owner Chris Hemsworth.
The new range brings together three expressions, with Archie Rose’s existing Single Malt Whisky and Straight Rye Malt Whisky, formerly Rye Malt Whisky, receiving new packaging while retaining their original liquids and production methods. They are joined by Australian Original Whisky, a new all-malt expression designed to offer an accessible introduction to the distillery’s whisky range.
The launch follows the announcement in August that Hemsworth had joined Archie Rose founder Will Edwards as co-owner(https://theshout.com.au/chris-hemsworth-buys-into-archie-rose/), with the pair looking to expand the Sydney distillery’s international presence, particularly in the US.
“This new chapter stays true to what has always defined Archie Rose: making exceptional whisky in Australia, from Australian-grown ingredients, with a genuine sense of place,” Edwards said.
“We’ve spent the last 12 years refining our whiskies and we now have a portfolio and brand identity that reflects our Australian grown and made heritage, while giving us a strong platform to introduce Australian whisky to more people around the world.”
The new identity was developed in partnership with Hemsworth and Glasgow-based creative agency Thirst, featuring a custom flask-shaped bottle with textured glass inspired by the Australian landscape.
The lighter glass bottle and redesigned packaging also reduce overall packaging weight, improving freight efficiency as the distillery prepares for further international expansion.
Hemsworth worked with the Archie Rose team on the bottle design, packaging and global creative direction, drawing on his connection to the Australian landscape.
“I’ve been a fan of Archie Rose for years because, quite simply, they make brilliant whisky. The awards speak for themselves, but it’s the flavour and character of each expression that truly set them apart. Unveiling these three whiskies with a look that reflects the richness of our landscape isn’t just an exciting evolution; it’s Australian distilling at its absolute peak. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve created and can’t wait for more people in Australia and around the world to discover them,” Hemsworth said.
Three expressions showcase Australian whisky
All three whiskies are produced at Archie Rose’s Sydney distillery using Australian-grown grains, including barley and rye sourced through local farmers and maltsters such as Voyager Craft Malt in NSW.
The distillery ferments, distils and matures individual malts separately before blending them to achieve the desired flavour profile, with maturation taking place across Australian fortified wine, European oak and American oak casks.
