Grenada’s political parties are entering the final two weeks of campaigning ahead of the country’s general election scheduled for November 5, 2026, with the contest expected to shape the island’s political and economic direction.
The opposition New National Party (NNP), led by Emmalin Pierre, is campaigning under its Better Grenada platform as it seeks to defeat the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell.
Pierre has proposed reducing the corporate tax rate from 28 per cent to 25 per cent. Her platform also includes free transportation for students who need assistance and expanded bus services during evenings and weekends.
The proposals place taxation, transportation and public services among the issues being discussed during the campaign.
The NDC is seeking a second consecutive term in government. In the 2022 general election, the party won nine of the 15 seats in the House of Representatives, while the NNP secured six.
A third political force, the Democratic People’s Movement, led by former foreign affairs minister Peter David, is also expected to contest seats.
All 15 parliamentary seats across Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique are being contested. A party needs at least eight seats to secure a majority in the House of Representatives.
The election will determine which party forms the next government and influences policy on taxation, energy, public transportation and other national priorities.
With election day approaching, voters will have an opportunity to assess the competing parties’ proposals and decide which leadership team they believe can best address the country’s needs.
The final outcome remains uncertain. The available report did not identify a reliable polling forecast that could establish which party is likely to win.
