In an official welcome ceremony held in the “Behar Male” Hall, filled with students and the excitement of the first day, new encounters, and expectations for the journey ahead, the Agricultural University of Tirana officially opened the 2026–2027 academic year today.
For many of the young people, it was their first day as students at UBT—a day marking not only the beginning of their university studies, but also the start of a new chapter in their personal and professional lives.
The ceremony began with the National Anthem and continued with a presentation on UBT’s transformation within the framework of its cooperation with BOKU University in Vienna—a reform that this year welcomes students with new and restructured study programs aligned with European standards.
A special message to the students came from UBT Rector, Prof. Dr. Fatbardh Sallaku , who encouraged them to see the university not only as a place where they will earn a degree, but as a space where they will shape themselves and build their future.
“Believe. Strive. Create. Believe in yourself. Keep striving even when the road gets difficult. And create something greater than yourself,” was Rector Sallaku’s message to the students as they embarked on this new journey.
The ceremony was also addressed by Fatmir Guri, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development , who highlighted the opportunities that the agriculture and rural development sectors offer young people today, encouraging students to turn the knowledge gained at university into careers, initiatives, and tangible contributions to the country’s development.
