New Payments Platform

New Payments Platform

The New Payments Platform (NPP) is an industry-wide initiative designed to bring smarter and faster payments to Australia. PayID and Osko were the first services available that allowed payments to be made via an email address or phone number in real-time.

PayTo is a new way to manage debit agreements straight from your bank account.

Soon, many direct debits may migrate to PayTo agreements allowing Members to control debit agreements directly from their bank accounts.

Payments in seconds, not days

Osko, the payment service by BPAY, is seamlessly integrated with PayID enabling the ability to send and receive near real-time payments. The funds will be transferred almost immediately, even on weekends and public holidays.

Forget your BSB and Account Number

With PayID, you no longer need to remember complex BSB and account numbers. Simply share your email address or mobile number when someone wants to pay you, or you pay them.

Introducing PayTo

With PayTo, you can view and manage your PayTo agreements in your internet banking giving you more visibility and control.

You can also use PayTo for all kinds of payments including recurring bills that were typically paid through direct debit, or in-app and online purchases that previously relied on a card.

How do I use PayID and Osko?

QBANK Members can register an email address or mobile number to their eligible account via the QBANK App or Internet Banking.

You can link one or more PayIDs to an account – an ideal option for joint account holders.

When someone wants to pay you, simply share your PayID with them.

To pay someone else using their PayID, use the QBANK App or Internet Banking where you’ll be able to use PayIDs to make payments.

The name of the person who has registered the PayID will appear before you approve the payment to ensure you’re paying the right person.

If the payee is registered for Osko, you will see the option available when transferring funds

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a person take money out of another person’s account using information registered on PayID?

A PayID identifier cannot be used to take money out of an account. It can only be used to receive payments.

Could a person register another person’s details with PayID?

QBANK must follow strict identifications steps (like those already in place in the industry) to ensure a person has a right to change information registered on PayID and that they are the rightful owner, or authority, of the account it is linked to.

How secure will PayID be?

It’s in everyone’s interest that PayID is safe and secure which is why it is certified to the highest data security standards and monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The PayID also has high security standards and capabilities that must be met by all financial institutions that wish to register a customer’s details on the service, which they can only do with the customer’s informed consent.

How do members use Osko by BPAY?

This is a digital service that has been seamlessly integrated into online banking channels like the QBANK App and Internet Banking. This means the service will be easy to access alongside other existing banking services.

How will a member know if they are paying the right person?

When a member registers an identifier with PayID via QBANK, they will be asked to give their identifier a name. This name must be an appropriate representation of the accountholder and must not intend to mislead or confuse a payer. QBANK will have the ability to display this name to the payer during the payment process to confirm that the payee is indeed the person or company they are intending to pay. In many cases, the full legal name of the account holder may also be displayed.

If I want to use the NPP, will it cost me money?

We are working through the implementation of the NPP and what it will mean for our members. More information will be provided when the services are closer to being launched. Learn more about our Fees and Charges(https://www.qbank.com.au/tools-services/support-and-faqs/rates-fees/).

What happens if the email address or phone number I want to use is already registered and in use?

QBANK can instigate a PayID Dispute Resolution process.
