It’s National Bike Month!

May Is National Bike Month. Let’s Ride 🚲

May is here and so is National Bike Month. The weather’s finally warming up and it’s the perfect time to get outside and ride. Whether you’re brand new, a little rusty, or already riding a lot, we’ve got a bunch of ways to get involved this month.

From classes to group rides to free rides and donuts on the trail, there’s something for everyone.

Get Started

Biking 101 | May 2

New to biking or haven’t ridden in a while? This class is all about the basics like balancing and pedaling in a relaxed, supportive indoor space at the Homewood Brushton YMCA. Helmets are required and we’ve got one if you need it. You can bring your own bike or use a POGOH bike for free.

Biking 201 | May 9

If you’re ready for more, this class builds on the basics and helps you feel more confident riding on your own or with others. It’s held outdoors and focuses on real-world skills.

Try It Out for Free

Bike to Work Day | May 14

If you have ever thought about biking to work, or even just part of the way, this is your chance to give it a try with no commitment required.

We are offering free rides all day with a special Day Pass code, shared the week of, so you can test it out in a way that works for you. There will also be morning and evening activations hosted by BikePGH where you can hang with fellow POGOH commuters and ease into the experience.

No pressure to go all in. Even a short ride counts, and sometimes that is all it takes to realize how doable and enjoyable it can be.

On a typical day, a Day Pass is just 16 dollars. If it clicks, an annual membership is 150 dollars for the year, which is less than what many people spend on gas in just a couple of months.

Why Biking Feels So Good

Biking is one of those things that’s good for you in a bunch of ways, but it doesn’t feel like a chore.

On the physical side, it’s great for your heart, builds strength, and is easy on your joints. You can go at your own pace and still get a solid workout.

Mentally, it’s a game changer. Getting outside, moving your body, and not being stuck in traffic can really shift your mood. Even a short ride can help you feel less stressed and more clear-headed. It’s a simple way to reset your day.

Not Sure Where to Start?

Start small.

Bike to Work Day is a great chance to test things out with a free Day Pass. Try part of your commute or just take a ride during the day and see how it feels.

If it works for you, you can keep it going. An annual membership makes it easy to ride whenever you want, whether that’s getting to work, running errands, or just getting outside more.

However you decide to celebrate, we hope you get a chance to ride this month. 🚲
