Building a Healthier Future Together: HKAPI Celebrates Its 58th Anniversary Dinner

On 25 June 2026, the Hong Kong Association of Pharmaceutical Industry (HKAPI) joyfully celebrated its 58th Anniversary Dinner — a milestone evening that united approximately 300 distinguished guests in a shared vision for the future of healthcare in Hong Kong.

The evening brought together an exceptional cross-section of leaders and partners, including government representatives from The Executive Council, The Legislative Council, The Health Bureau, the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau, and the Pharmaceutical Administration Bureau (ISAF) of Macao SAR, among others.

We were equally delighted to welcome leading academics alongside medical societies, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry partners, patient groups, and business and trade partners. A special thank you goes to the Hong Kong Tourism Board for the charming table gifts featuring Hong Kong’s most iconic symbols.

The evening was officially set in motion by HKAPI President Ms. Peggy Fung, whose welcome speech powerfully anchored the night’s theme. She reminded guests that sustainability is all about balance — delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while ensuring our healthcare system remains financially viable and resilient for the future. Peggy emphasised that when viewed holistically, innovation is not merely a cost to be counted, but a long-term investment that improves health outcomes, enhances productivity, and strengthens the sustainability of Hong Kong’s healthcare system.

One of the most memorable highlights of the evening was a vibrant panel discussion on the theme “Innovation for a Sustainable Healthcare System”, featuring Guest of Honour Dr. Libby Lee, Chief Executive of the Hospital Authority of HKSAR, Professor Juliana Chan, Professor of Medicine and Therapeutics and Director of the Hong Kong Institute of Diabetes and Obesity at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Ms. Peggy Fung, moderated by Dr. David Lam, Medical and Health Representative of the Legislative Council of HKSAR.

The panellists shared powerful insights on how the pharmaceutical industry, the Hospital Authority, and academia are deeply and inextricably connected — not only in their collective mission to build a better healthcare system and drive improved patient outcomes for Hong Kong, but also in their mutual reliance on one another for sustainability and growth.
