The Club 2002-PUR now has a date for its next major internal milestone. Meeting in Brazzaville on 21 October, the party’s permanent secretariat announced that its second extraordinary congress will be held in January 2027, once a round of departmental congresses has been completed. The announcement was made by the party’s spokesman, Louis Gabriel Missatou, at the close of an extraordinary session chaired by the founding president, Wilfrid Guy César Nguesso (ACI).
Behind the calendar lies a broader exercise: a reorganisation of the party’s structures that its leadership openly presents as groundwork for the electoral contests ahead.
An Enlarged Session in Brazzaville
The permanent secretariat sat in an enlarged configuration for the occasion. It was joined by members of the political bureau, the officials of the party’s two national committees, the presidents of its federations and, according to ACI, members of the executive bureau of the Brazzaville federation. ADIAC specified that the political bureau members in attendance were those present in the capital.
The agenda was largely procedural. Participants examined the report on the party’s general assemblies, took note of the opinion of the congress supervision and coordination committee, and heard the general report on the work of the national preparatory committee (ACI). The secretariat then adopted that report, which was formally handed to the founding president.
Mr Nguesso expressed satisfaction with the work accomplished. Having noted that the two committees had met the objectives assigned to them, he brought their mission to an end (ADIAC).
Rebuilding the Party From the Grassroots
The substance of the exercise emerges from the founding president’s own assessment. In his account, the committees had followed the roadmap entrusted to them: to take stock of the party’s situation and to bring its grassroots and intermediate bodies up to date. He congratulated the federation presidents newly elected at the close of the latest general assemblies, together with the members of the national committees, for the results achieved in restructuring the party.
His instruction to the new federation leaders was explicit. “To the newly elected federation presidents, I urge you to continue structuring the party in neighbourhood, district and village committees in order to strengthen the party’s network in every corner of the national territory, without exception. This is the indispensable prerequisite for the good electoral harvests to come,” he said, as reported by ADIAC.
The wording is telling. The congress is not framed as an end in itself; the leadership ties organisational depth at local level directly to electoral performance. The sources, however, do not specify which elections the party has in view.
A Commission to Steer the Congress
To prepare the January gathering, the meeting set up a national organising commission for the congress. It will be chaired by Wilfrid Guy César Nguesso himself, with Antoine Banvidi, Roger Mompelet and Louis Gabriel Missatou serving respectively as first, second and third vice-presidents.
Tony Abraham Ossété has been appointed general rapporteur, with Dieudonné Kouloukiabonga as his deputy. The commission’s secretariat falls to Mylène Gloria Gassongo, assisted by Guy Dickoyot. The remaining members of the commission and the officials of its technical sub-commissions are to be named in official acts that the party says will be published shortly.
Loyalty, Unity and a Quarter Century
The session closed on an affirmation of allegiance. Participants praised their founding president’s tireless efforts and his dedication to the smooth running of the party, solemnly renewing their loyalty to him.
