We’re excited to announce the launch of a national voluntary registry for occupational therapist assistants (OTAs) .
Whether you’re an OTA, studying to become one, or an occupational therapist (OT) who supervises OTAs – we want to hear from you!
By participating, you help CAOT:
Better understand the OTA workforce across Canada
Advocate for national programs, services, and policies that reflect your role and needs
Strengthen professional recognition and inclusion across the occupational therapy community
Build a stronger OTA community across Canada
Participants are eligible for $50 monthly gift card draws throughout 2025 and 2026.
The registry will remain open to new participants for one year: please spread the word!

This document was initiated in response to calls to update the occupational therapist assistant (OTA) documents to better align with the Competencies for Occupational Therapists (2021). The project was spearheaded by CAOT and generated by a Task Force with OTAs, OTA educators, a regulator, and an occupational therapist (OT)/OTA employer. Their discussion centers around OTAs and their vital roles within the profession. This episode continues the exploration initiated in, episode 21, shedding light on the variety of ways OTAs are trained in Canada. Dianna and Heather, known for their work on OT and OTA collaboration, also contributed to the 2019 OTA/PTA Vision Project, advocating for enhancing the roles of OTAs and PTAs in the profession.
