Meet the Council and Staff
The Council is comprised of seven councillors, with the President elected by fellow members. Councillors serve terms of four or two years. The first full election under the Local Government Act 1995 (WA)(CKI) for the Cocos (Keeling) Islands was held in May 1993.
Councillors are elected by residents of the district. Council elections are held in October every second year.
The Council meets collectively on the last Wednesday of each month, with meetings alternating between Home Island and West Island.
