Prebiodunes International Environmental Initiative

PREBIODUNES is an international environmental initiative focused on the restoration and preservation of coastal dune ecosystems across the Mediterranean. These ecosystems are among the most threatened habitats due to climate change (sea-level rise), coastal erosion, and unsustainable human pressure (tourism and construction).
The project aims to implement nature - based solutions to strengthen coastal resilience, protect unique biodiversity, and promote asustainable model for managing coastal areas.
The Role of OAA in the Project As a key local partner in Albania, the OAA plays a vital role in ensuring the project’s success onthe ground. Its responsibilities include:
- Scientific Monitoring and Research: OAA conducts detailed field surveys to identify the current state of dune flora and fauna, focusing on rare and endemic species that are critical for the ecosystem’s health.
