Director Stephen La-Roda, a distinguished member of Squad A 1986 of the Department of Immigration, brings to his role nearly four decades of exemplary public service grounded in discipline, institutional knowledge, and strategic leadership.
He began his career as a frontier officer at Lynden Pindling International Airport (LPIA), where he quickly developed a reputation for his firm enforcement approach and sharp command of immigration laws and procedures. His early years on the frontlines shaped a career defined by operational excellence and a deep understanding of border security. Over the years, he has served across several islands throughout The Bahamas, including Grand Bahama, Cat Cay, Bimini, Eleuthera, Abaco, and San Salvador. In each posting, he contributed meaningfully to strengthening immigration systems, often working in challenging and remote environments that required adaptability and sound decision-making.
Director La-Roda is widely regarded as a disciplined and structured leader, known for his clarity in direction and commitment to accountability.
