From the Presidential Podium

As we begin a new innings at KASSIA for 2026-27, we have scrupulously followed the tradition of meeting the top government Ministers and senior officials and heads of stakeholder organisations and government departments, advocating for a MSME-friendly policy roadmap and hassle-free implementation.

The strength of KASSIA has always rested on its unwavering commitment to being the collective voice of Karnataka’s MSMEs. We firmly believe that sustained engagement with policymakers, backed by well-researched representations and constructive dialogue, remains the most effective means of securing meaningful reforms for industry. Our endeavour will continue to be one of proactive partnership with Government while firmly safeguarding the legitimate interests of our members.

I am pleased to share that, through the united efforts of KASSIA, FKCCI, PIA and other industry bodies, significant relief has recently been secured from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB). Following persistent representations and several rounds of discussions, the monthly Special Sanitary Charges for medium and large industrial buildings have been substantially reduced, easing the financial burden on thousands of MSMEs. Equally important, industries have been provided a practical compliance mechanism for Rainwater Harvesting by permitting the installation of third-generation filtration systems, thereby helping avoid penalties while promoting water conservation. We have also persuaded the authorities not to insist upon Occupancy Certificates for older industrial buildings seeking new water connections, while continuing to pursue further rationalisation of pro-rata charges and other user levies. These achievements demonstrate what determined and united industry representation can accomplish.
