IFDA has welcomed the commitment by the government to support a national food security strategy in our response to The Australian today but…..with a caveat. No matter who wins government there is an urgent need to develop and implement the strategy as quickly as possible due to the fact that a threat / disruption to Australia’s food supply chain could be just around the corner. Planning and preparation for every eventuality will take time so we need to get on with it. Time, post election for ‘action’.

We delivered that message at last years Global Food Forum and through multiple other channels.

I want to acknowledge the other organisations that have advocated on this issue over the past few years like the NFF, AMIC. Ausveg, RWTA, AACS , ASPI and MGA.
