Divisions

Division of Quantum Information (DQI)

The Division of Quantum Information (DQI) is focused on connecting researchers working across quantum information sciences and technology in Canada. The basic topics studied in the field are the use of quantum entanglement including quantum communications, computation, sensing, and other uses of the fundamental properties of quantum mechanics. This has the potential to influence methods in a variety of ways from the simulation of quantum field theories, the study of fluids, quantum chemistry, finance, and beyond. One of the major goals of the field is to make a quantum computer, a device that would allow for computations based on quantum entanglement represented by qubits instead of classical bits. This requires both development and knowledge of:

Quantum software compilation and transpilation

Design of hardware (superconducting, photonic, spin, solid state, cold atom traps, Rydberg atoms, and all other qubit platforms) to affect quantum properties of a system.

Quantum sensing techniques

Quantum algorithms for all applications

Mathematical topics in quantum information and resource theories
