With the ScienceMAN network and Orfeo, Belnet is committing to research programmes and to the digitalisation and accessibility of the FSIs' collections
Since 2016, at the request of Belspo (The Federal Science Policy), Belnet has been connecting the 10 FSIs through a stable and redundant network infrastructure, the ScienceMAN network.
In late 2021, Belnet took over management of Orfeo（https://www.belnet.be/en/services-identity-mobility-federation/orfeo）, an Open Science platform with nearly 8,000 scientific publications resulting from Belspo-funded research programmes. This repository enables the FSIs to disclose their scientific production according to internationally agreed standards and to create more visibility.
"Our researchers are permanently exchanging meteorology data with other federal scientific institutes, universities and other (inter)national partners. Managing this ever larger data streams is one of our biggest challenges."
Emmanuel Strobbe, IT Infrastructure Manager @ RMI
